Documentary ‘Finding Farideh' representing Iran for International Feature Film Oscar in 2020 is set to receive limited theatrical release in Iranian cinemas. 

The doc recently announced as Iran's 2020 Oscar entry for Best International Feature Film category will be rescreened in the coming days at 'Art and Experience' cinematic group in Iran.

Co-directed by duo Azadeh Mousavi and Kourosh Ataei, Iran contender is a feature-length documentary about an Iranian girl adopted at infancy by a Dutch couple who 40 years later travels to Iran in search of her biological parents.

The title has won several awards at national and international film events.

The doc was selected by a committee of Iranian film industry professionals from a shortlist for International Feature Film Oscar in 2020. Iran has won the Oscar in this category twice with Ashgar Farhadi’s 'The Salesman' and 'A Separation'.

‘Finding Farideh' marks the country's first official submission to Oscars as a documentary film.   

The 92nd Academy Awards will be held on February 9, 2020.
